What it is:

Metadata that encodes rights terms, revocation conditions, AI usage permissions, and financial splits, in a machine-readable and enforceable way.

What it does:

• Embeds usage rules directly into content (e.g., “All Rights Reserved” “expires after 6 months”).
• Flags whether a work can be used for AI training, fine-tuning, or not at all.
• Sets royalty structures and automates revenue distribution among co-creators or agents.
• Allows revocation if the licensee misuses the work or violates conditions (e.g., hate speech, brand clash).

Example:

You are a photographer uploads a portfolio with AI opt-out and a license that limits commercial use to 1 year. If used beyond that period or by an unauthorized brand, metadata triggers automated revocation and legal flagging.
